A spring in their step: Riverdance comes to Foxwoods

What is Ireland’s most popular export to the U.S.? Whisky? Sweaters? U2? Liam Neeson?

    Or could it be Riverdance?

After all, Riverdance took what had been an Irish folk art — step dancing — and transformed it into a global phenom.

And it gave the world — like it or not — Michael Flatley, who rose to fame in “Riverdance” and went on to develop his own shows, led by “Lord of the Dance.”

Riverdance, which inspired all sorts of Irish dance shows, is now celebrating its 20th anniversary. It’s on tour marking that milestone, and it’s playing two shows this weekend at Foxwoods.

    Riverdance, 8 p.m. Sat. and 7 p.m. Sun., Grand Theater, Foxwoods; $30-$55; 1-800-200-2882.
