East Lyme - An Old Lyme woman suffered minor injuries Wednesday when she was pinned to her car by a shopping cart that had been struck by an alleged drunken driver.
Jennifer Hazen, 48, was loading groceries into her parked car in the parking lot of the Stop & Shop in East Lyme.
Christine M. McDonald, 39, of 10 King Arthur Drive, Niantic, was driving her car through the parking lot when she allegedly struck a shopping cart that then hit Hazen, "pinning her against her own vehicle," according to an arrest summary.
McDonald failed a field sobriety test and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
Hazen was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London for minor injuries to her legs.
