With Taurasi, just ask ... and you shall receive

    Howdy,

News flash — Diana Taurasi is a reporter's dream.

    ("No duh," you say).

No matter what you're writing, just ask Taurasi a question, turn on your recorder and let her go. You could even leave the recorder behind as you grab a coffee. She'll still be going when you get back.

Chris Elsberry of the Connecticut Post asked Taurasi on Friday who would win a one-on-one game to 20 points between herself and Maya Moore.

"Oh, she'd kill me," Taurasi said. "Yeah, she'd kill me."

    "Really?" Elsberry said. "How come?"

    "She's Maya Moore."

    "You're Diana Taurasi."

    "She'd kill me."

    "Oh, come on."

"If she spotted me five, I think I could win."

Taurasi was later asked about the first time she realized that playing internationally was different than playing in the states.

"We played in the Czech Republic," Taurasi said. "It was me, coach (Geno Auriemma), Alana Beard, Ebony Hoffman. We went there for the (2001 FIBA) Junior World Championships.

"The semifinals were against the Czech Republic and we lost the game. At the end, we looked at the stat sheet. It was 55 free throws (for the Czech Republic) to four.

"I was like, (bleep), they (the officials) didn't even make it look (good). They blatantly cheated and we came in third. But we didn't go in there very prepared. We all learned our lessons."

Tamika Catchings is one of the nicest (and coolest) people you will ever meet.

    That is all.

Just wanted to get that out there.

    Vaya con dios.
