Howdy,

Late word out of Seattle tonight that Lauren Jackson is out up to three weeks with a labral tear in her left hip.

Jackson, the reigning WNBA for the defending champion Storm, was injured in the second quarter of Tuesday's game at Tulsa.

"A second test confirmed that Lauren Jackson has a labral tear in her left hip," Seattle coach Brian Agler said in a statement at the team's website. "This injury is often treated effectively with rest and physical therapy. We are going to rest Lauren for a week before increasing her activity level. At this point, we expect her to be out for a minimum of three weeks. If she does not demonstrate adequate progress after three weeks of therapy and ramped up activity, surgery will be considered."

Seattle plays at Connecticut Friday.

Unbeaten Montenegro, the official European team of this blog, remained the toast of the FIBA EuroBasket Women tournament as it beat defending champion Spain Friday, 73-68.

Iva Perovanovic had 22 points and four rebounds for Montenegro (5-0), which is making its tournament debut.

Sandrine Gruda had eight points, five rebounds and four assists for France.

Alba Torrens had 11 points, five rebounds and two steals for Spain in its 66-57 win over Latvia. Spain must beat Croatia Sunday as the winner likely advances to the quarterfinals.

Johannah Leedham and Great Britain play today against Turkey.

Vaya con dios….
