    Nicholas J. Gardner

Norwich — Police arrested Tuesday a local man wanted in California for violation of his parole.

Nicholas J. Gardner, 25, of 153 Summit St., Apt. B, was charged with being a fugitive from justice and interfering with an officer.

Gardner was observed by Officer Chase Chiangi entering the residence at about 6:50 p.m. Additional officers, including a canine officer, were denied entry into the residence.

Police said they had to force their way into the home, and found Gardner hiding in the basement.

Gardner is being held on a $100,000 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Norwich Superior Court.
