Beware collections on 'Yellow Pages'

The Yellow Pages scammers are at it again.

According to the state Department of Consumer Protection, companies are using questionable methods to intimidate Connecticut businesses into paying up for directory services they never authorized.

"Companies named in complaints include YellowPagesOnline.net in Fairfax, Va., Yellow Pages Local Directory of Champlain, N.Y., and Public Yellow Pages of New York, N.Y.," the department said. " All three of these companies have 'F' ratings with the Better Business Bureau."

Anyone receiving bogus bills should contact the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov or 1-877-382-4357. For more information about filing a complaint with the state, go to ct.gov/dcp.
