East Lyme Selectwoman Holly Cheeseman has withdrawn from her rematch against Democratic state Rep. Ed Jutila.
Cheeseman, the endorsed Republican, said today that she dropped out of the race for the 37th House District because of family and time commitments.
"It's a big commitment and I have too much going on in my life," Cheeseman said.
There is still time for another Republican to challenge Jutila, and Cheeseman said a vacancy committee has formed to consider replacement candidates.
The district encompasses East Lyme and Salem.
Jutila outpolled Cheeseman 60 percent to 40 percent in the 2010 election.
