Norwich Winter Festival launches parade theme contest

Norwich - The Norwich Winter Festival Committee is turning to the public for help in creating a theme for this year's parade to kick off the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 24.

The winner of the theme contest will be given the honor of "turning on the switch" that lights up the lights on Norwich City Hall.

The winning theme will incorporate the best representation of Norwich being known as "The Christmas City of Connecticut" for 75 years and that Norwich currently has a very ethnically diverse population. The theme should appeal to a wide range of people.

Contest entrants should provide their names, addresses, email addresses and contact phone numbers.

The deadline for the contest is Aug. 15. Email entries to norwichwinterfestival@yahoo.com">norwichwinterfestival@yahoo.com or fax entries to (860) 889-4740. The winning theme will be chosen by the Norwich Winter Festival Committee at the Aug. 16 meeting. The winning entrant will be notified by Aug. 20.

Employees of the City of Norwich and their family members are not eligible.
