Regarding the Aug. 5 letter that proposed, "Use market, choice to lower health costs," there is one aspect that will doom it to failure.
The author states, "People given the grants would be motivated to take responsibility and spend the amounts wisely."
Unfortunately, the proposals hinges upon the dreaded "R" word: responsibility. In this day of entitlement mentality this word is anathema to those upon whom the success of this plan depends.
Other than that, it is a great idea.
