On Sept. 22, 2012, the Pilot House at Ocean Beach in New London was the setting for the 50th wedding anniversary celebration of George (Buddy) and Alice (Varella) Andrews.

Family and friends from Maine, Florida, Tennessee and California came together at the celebration which was organized by their children and spouses.

After graduating from Fitch Senior High School, George joined the Navy and then worked for Local 777 as a pipefitter until his retirement in 1996.

Alice graduated from Williams Memorial Institute and worked for Groton Utilities until her retirement in 1997.

They have three children, Mark (deceased), Marlo and Michael, and their daughters-in-law Laura and Denise and son-in-law Scott. They have four grandchildren, Lisa, Ryan, Tyler and Mackenzie and one great grandchild, Dylan John Allen.

Mr. and Mrs. Andrews reside in Groton.
