3 in Connecticut win Powerball as jackpot eludes state

Hartford (AP) — A Connecticut Lottery official says three winning tickets worth at least $1 million each were sold in the state as part of the $579.9 million Powerball jackpot as the big prize went to winners in Arizona and Missouri.

Two tickets are $1 million winners and the third is $2 million because that ticket also correctly picked the sixth, or Powerball, number. None of the winners has stepped forward, but they have six months to pick up their prizes.

Each vendor who sold one of the winning Powerball tickets will receive a $2,000 bonus from the Connecticut Lottery.

The state also was a winner. The Connecticut Lottery earned a profit of $9.6 million on a record sale of more than $24 million in Powerball tickets in the state in the past two months.
