WHO: Anna, 45, single mother of a 16-year-old son.
AGENCY: Alliance for Living, the only AIDS service organization and resource center for people living with HIV/AIDS in southeastern Connecticut.
People come to AFL for medical case management, medication adherence, food, friends, holistic health and many other services.
SITUATION: Anna has been clean and sober for eight years. She receives HIV care but just recently was diagnosed with diabetes. Anna manages to support herself and her son with the Social Security disability benefits she receives.
WHAT TO GIVE: Her son, an excellent student, could use clothing for school and a sturdy backpack. Gift cards from local stores to make these purchases would be appreciated. Because of her diabetes diagnosis, Anna has to get special food for her new diet, which she cannot afford to purchase with the food stamps she receives.
She could use gift cards from local grocery stores. The family vehicle just broke down and can't be repaired. Donations of bus tickets would allow her son to attend his after-school activities.
TO DONATE: Contact Carol Jones, director of medical case management, at (860) 447-0884. Drop-offs at 154 Broad St., New London, weekdays.
