There are only four occupations in the History of Entertainment that Harry Connick, Jr., hasn't tried. Until recently, it was five - but then he in fact co-wrote a holiday musical about an elf, so cross that one off the list.

Indeed, Connick, Jr. conceptualized "The Happy Elf" way back in 2003. It became a children's television special in 2005 and, eventually, was brought to the stage. The most recent production, by the Pennsylvania Youth Theater, opened in November at the Charles A. Brown Ice House in Bethlehem.

Appropriately, Connick, Jr.'s latest album, recorded with his trio, is called "Music From the Happy Elf."

On Saturday, the multifaceted New Orleans native, whose virtuosic jazz and pop stylings have sold over 28 million albums, brings his big band to the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods. No one's saying how much if any "Happy Elf" music will make the set list, but the album is in stores, and it is that time of year.
