Panheads, take notice! Skillet plays Mohegan Sun
I love the fact that fans of the band Skillet are called Panheads.
If you're not a Panhead or, heck, if you haven't heard of Skillet at all, here's a quick primer before the group performs Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena. They are NOT into electronic music (that would be Skrillex). Rather, Skillet is a Christian rock band that has sold upwards of 2 million albums in America.
The group is built of lead singer and bassist John Cooper and his wife, Korey, who plays rhythm guitar and keyboards and provides backing vocals; drummer/vocalist Jen Ledger and lead guitarist Seth Morrison.
Lead singer John Cooper recently told knoxville.com, "In 2010, Billboard put out their end-of-the-year stats, and Skillet was the No. 7th hardest working band in America. That's the only thing we ever beat Lady Gaga at. She was No. 8. My wife looked at that and said, 'I told you we were working too hard!'"
After the gold "Comatose" and the platinum "Awake," Skillet is gearing up to release a new album this spring.
