Day feature helped recall dad's heroic work

My father was one of those intrepid young men who volunteered their service as ambulance drivers in France before the United States entered WWI. So, I was delighted to see pictures and read in The Day Jan. 7 about the re-creation of one of those ambulances that he must have driven ("WWI ambulance receives call to duty").
Sadly, I was only 16 when my father died, and so I lost the opportunity in later years to quiz him on his experience. However, not too long ago I discovered that the American Field Service has a web site, "History of the American Field Service in France: 1920," which can be found if you Google, "American Field Service." This provides a unique insight into the lives of those volunteers. Readers, I believe, would find the contents of that site as fascinating as I have.
