Author Marcus Rediker discusses his book "The Amistad Rebellion"

Historian Marcus Rediker's new book, "The Amistad Rebellion," is only the latest account of the historic ship and the most famous slave rebellion in American history - but it's the first to tell the story from the slaves' point of view. The book also places emphasis on the captives' stay in Connecticut.

Rediker, distinguished professor of Atlantic history at the University of Pittsburgh, will discuss "The Amistad Rebellion" Saturday at New London's Custom House Maritime Museum. There will be a wine and cheese reception after the presentation. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the museum and prior to the event at the Monte Cristo bookstore in New London.
