Dances in progress, with Alison Chase/Performance

Alison Chase/Performance has spent two weeks in a creative residency at the Garde Arts Center, developing four dance pieces - remounting two previous works and finishing two new ones.

The group will perform those works-in-progress on Friday at the Garde. (This showcase is by invitation, but members of the public can be admitted by RSVPing to the Garde by tonight.)

Alison Chase, by the way, is a modern-dance pioneer who cofounded Pilobolus and Momix.

The new works that will take center stage at the Garde are: "Drowned," a film and dance piece loosely based on a Gabriel García Márquez short story, and "Counterpoise," with a new score performed by violinist/composer Rob Flax.

The two remounted pieces are: "Star Cross'd," inspired by "Romeo and Juliet" and "Ben's Admonitionis," about two men in confinement.
