Fairy-tale opera: Rossini's version of Cinderella - the opera "La Cenerentola" - will be on full Prince Charming and glass-slippered display when the Salt Marsh Opera performs it Sunday at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center. It will be sung in English, with piano accompaniment.

Short and sweet: The Salt Marsh Opera's version is an abridged one, running an hour. It is, though, fully staged. The opera group is also presenting this "La Cenerentola" to more than 4,000 students in Stonington, Middeltown and Woodstock, as well as in Westerly, thanks to financial support from various organizations.

Cast of characters: The performers include Abigail Fischer as Cenerentola, Olanna Goudeau as Clorinda, Amanda McGarry as Tisbe, Chris Lucier as Prince Ramiro, Dan Lama as Dandini, Adelmo Guidarelli as Don Magnifico, and Michael Scarcelle as Alidoro.

Being composed: Rossini was all of 25 when he created "La Cenerentola." And, two years earlier, he whipped up "The Barber of Seville."
