Norwich - Sam Strout's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Connor Lewis and gave second-seeded Waterford High School a 1-0 victory over No. 7 Plainfield in the quarterfinals of the Eastern Connecticut Conference baseball tournament Wednesday at Dodd Stadium.

Jordan Hamler pitched a complete game for the Lancers (17-4), who will face No. 6 East Lyme, a 3-0 winner over No. 3 Bacon Academy, in today's semifinals at 4 p.m. Hamler scattered three singles to earn his seventh win.

In other quarterfinal action, No. 8 Stonington upset top-seeded St. Bernard 10-2 and No. 4 Fitch edged No. 5 Montville 3-1.

Lewis and Kyle Willoughby opened the ninth with back-to-back singles and advanced a base on a wild pitch before Strout drove the ball deep enough in center to end the game.

• Jordan Bartlett allowed only three hits in East Lyme's 3-0 win over Bacon. The Vikings (14-7) scored a pair of runs in the third on an RBI single by Austin Toback, scoring Anthony Carambot (walk, two stolen bases) and a throwing error.

Bartlett walked three and struck out four for East Lyme, picking off a runner at first in the fifth and inducing a 5-4-3 double play to end the sixth when Bacon (14-6) threatened.

• No. 8 Stonington scored six runs in the six inning and went on to beat top-seeded St. Bernard 10-2. Brian Frosti pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and two earned runs, while Max Kelley had a double, triple and five RBI and Pat Coan had two hits and scored two runs for the Bears (13-8). Willie Rios doubled for the Saints (17-4).

• Izzy Davila pitched a complete-game, four-hitter to lift No. 4 Fitch to its 3-1 victory over No. 5 Montville. Jack Porter had an RBI single in the first inning for Fitch (17-4) and Davila added a two-run double in the fifth. Montville (15-6) scored its only run in the seventh.

In other games:

• Erik Nicholson was the tough luck loser, pitching a complete game in Old Lyme's 2-0 loss to No. 1 Cromwell in the Shoreline Conference tournament semifinals. Dave Peck had a double for the Wildcats. Cromwell plays East Hampton in the final on Saturday at Dodd Stadium.

• Mike Dellaporta's RBI single highighted a three-run sixth inning that allowed Wheeler to pull away for a 6-1 win over Putnam in the regular-season finale. Nate Storey scattered four hits over five innings for the win and Asa Palmer earned the save. Kevin Knowles was 3-for-3 and scored twice for the Lions (9-10) while Storey was 3-for-4 and Dellaporta had two hits and drove in three runs.
