Montville – Bill Buscetto, the athletic director and baseball coach at St. Bernard School, has been dismissed from both positions.
Buscetto confirmed the dismissal Wednesday morning in a telephone conversation.
"I was shocked as I had no warning whatsoever that this was happening," Buscetto said. "Everything I did was always with the best interests of the children and the St. Bernard community. I now am seeking advice from my attorney."
Michael Strammiello, director of communications for the Diocese of Norwich, also confirmed that Buscetto is "no longer employed" by the school, adding the diocese would have no further comment because the decision was a "personnel issue."
Buscetto is a graduate of St. Bernard and took the job in 2008. He led the Saints to the Eastern Connecticut Conference Small Division baseball championship this spring. He also led them to the Class S state finals in 2008.
