    Haberek closing fundraising gap

Stonington - Campaign finance reports filed this week show that First Selectman Ed Haberek has slightly closed the campaign finance deficit he faced with Republican opponent Glee McAnanly.

As of the Oct. 10 report, McAnanly had raised almost five times more in campaign funds than the three-term incumbent.

As of the Oct. 29 filing date, McAnanly has raised at total of $7,200 compared to Haberek's $3,065. McAnanly had $5,115 left for the remaining week of the campaign and Haberek had $2,539.

On Oct. 17 Haberek announced he was using an online fundraising site to help him attract contributions over the last two weeks of the campaign. It is unclear if any of those 18 contributions of his goal of 48 are included in the latest report.
