November is National Adoption Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the joys of adoption. It is also a time to focus on the 101,719 children in the U.S. foster care system who are waiting to join a loving, permanent family. Could it be your home?
On any given day, there are 65 children in Connecticut foster care who are available for adoption. Many are children over the age of eight, members of a sibling group or children with special medical needs.
Connecticut Adoption Services, a program of Waterford Country School, can help you find the right child for your family. Come learn about the process at one of CAS's free monthly informational sessions, which are listed on our website www.CTadoptions.org.
As the holiday season approaches, maybe now is the time to think about giving a gift that will give back to you for years to come. Adopting from state foster care could be just the right present to you and to a child in need of a permanent family.
