UConn climbs into top 10
UConn is in the top 10 for the first time in almost two years.
The Huskies (9-0) climbed from 12th to ninth in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Other top 10 teams include: No. 1 Arizona, No. 2 Syracuse, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 5 Michigan State, No. 6 Louisville, No. 7 Oklahoma State, No. 8 Duke and No. 10 Villanova.
They last appeared in the top 10 in early January 2012. They started the 2011-12 season at No. 4 and stood at No. 8 before falling out of the top 10 after losing to Seton Hall and Rutgers the first week of January.
In other news, senior Shabazz Napier earned American Athletic Conference player of the week honors after averaging 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals in wins over Florida and Maine.
UConn returns to action Dec. 18 when it hosts Stanford at the XL Center in Hartford.
