Old Saybrook man charged in gas station robbery

Old Saybrook — Police arrested an Old Saybrook man Wednesday who they say robbed the Valero gas station in Durham during the early morning hours on Dec. 19.

Eric Griswold, 37, of 37 Spencer Plain Road, Room 118, was charged with second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

At about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday state police from Troop F in Westbrook went to the Super 8 Hotel, where Griswold was living, to serve him with the arrest warrant. Griswold was taken into custody without incident.

Griswold is being held on a $150,000 bond, pending his arraignment today at Middletown Superior Court.

Police in Old Saybrook and Clinton assisted state police with its investigation of the robbery.
