The Foxwoods partnership that failed to win sufficient support last year for a $1 billion casino plan in Milford, Mass., will officially announce Tuesday that it is now interested in pursuing a $750 million project in the city of Fall River, a spokesman for the Fall River mayor said.

Crossroads Massachusetts, the Foxwoods-led partnership, and Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan are scheduled to make the announcement at 10 a.m., the spokesman said.

No site for a Fall River project has been selected.

Flanagan told The Herald News of Fall River that the casino developers would invest $750 million in a project that would include a 140,000-square-foot gaming floor, approximately 20 restaurants, a 350-room hotel, a "name brand" shopping mall, an entertainment arena, a convention center and a spa.

The project would presumably vie for the one southeastern Massachusetts casino license the Massachusetts Gaming Commission is expected to award at some point. The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe has proposed a casino for Taunton, a project that must be approved by the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs.
