I was greatly moved by The Day's article, "Cold snap puts bite on local charities," (Jan. 28). The thought of homeless people needing warmth and food in this extremely cold weather makes my heart aches.

I always think that with a simple twist of fate, I could be that homeless person. If everyone would only give $10 it would make a big difference in the lives of many unfortunate people. The Day even gave a website to give to the Homeless Hospitality Center (www.nlhhc.org) and it took less than five minutes.

In a country where we often take better care of our pets than other human beings, I think it would be a good gesture to give a little back.
