Fire extinguished on roof of New London's Whaling City Ford
New London — City firefighters on Wednesday extinguished a fire on the roof of the Whaling City Ford car dealership at 475 Broad St., at the corner of Colman Street.
Shortly after 9 p.m., small flames could be seen sprouting from the roof at the corner of the building above the showroom of the dealership. Firefighters used ladders to access the roof and could be seen using saws to cut into the building façade, apparently an effort to determine if the fire had spread. The fire occurred in the area of a large spotlight.
The visible fire had been extinguished with water at about 9:45 p.m. Information on the extent of the damage and cause of the fire was not immediately available.
