Westerly Hospital to offer Colorectal Cancer educational program

Westerly -- In recognition of March as national colorectal cancer awareness month, Westerly Hospital will offering a free program titled, “Colorectal Cancer Prevention, Screening and Early Detection” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 18 in the hospital's Henry J. Nardone Conference Center.

Dr. Brad Lavigne, gastroenterologist, and Laryl Riley, nurse practitioner, of Gastroenterology Specialists Inc., will talk about understanding risk factors, screening techniques and preparing for testing. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer killer in the United States, and more than half of these deaths are preventable, the hospital said in a news release.
