New London — The New London Firefighters Pipes and Drums will host its annual pre-St. Patrick's Day performance and celebration Saturday, March 1 at the Crocker House Ballroom at 35 Union St. from 6 to 10 p.m.
The event will feature bagpipe band performances, Irish step dancers from Spirited Soles Irish Dance Academy and Irish music performed by musician Marc Bernier. Corned beef sandwiches, beef stew, beer, wine, soda and water will be available for sale.
The New London Firefighters Pipes and Drums band was established in 2001 to "continue the proud tradition of playing bagpipes and drums at fire service ceremonies and community events." All proceeds from the event will benefit the band, which is not funded by the city.
Tickets for the event are $5 if purchased in advance and $10 if purchased at the door. Tickets can be purchased at fire department headquarters at 289 Bank St., Neff Productions at 2 State St., or from a band member. Anyone under the age of 21 must be accompanied by an adult.
