Provide Groton schools resources they need

I am the parent of two children in the Groton Public Schools and a member of the Groton Parent Council. I am writing you this letter to urge the Groton RTM to approve the proposed 1.9 percent increase to the Board of Education budget for the 2014-2015 school year.

Last year, Groton Board of Education was faced with significant cuts to staff, supplies, and programs due to a zero percent budget increase approved by the RTM. The requested budget for the 2014-2015 school year does not layoff any personal. Most importantly, this budget maintains class size and does not cut any student programs. The proposed budget is good for the community. A 1.9 percent increase is a responsible increase that gives Groton school staff the resources they need to let our children thrive.

We owe it to our children and the future of our town to properly fund the education budget. As a mother, who wants the best for her children, I am requesting that you approve the budget with the 1.9 percent increase.
