Lisbon — State police arrested a man at around noon Wednesday at Lisbon Landing Shopping Plaza for possession of various drugs, including 17 pounds of marijuana, according to a press release.

Richard S. Wetherell IV, 26, of 829 Shewville Road, Ledyard, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics, illegal sale of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs with intent to sell, state police said.

Police “developed information of possible illicit narcotic activity” at the plaza and later located Wetherell, who was a person of interest, according to the release.

Wetherell was found to be in possession of 17 pounds of marijuana, 30 Percocet pills and hallucinogenic mushrooms. The drugs were packaged for sale, according to the release.

Wetherell posted bond and is due in Norwich Superior Court May 29. Police said they did not know his original bond amount.

Ledyard police assisted state police from the Montville barracks and Lisbon and Ledyard resident state troopers with the investigation.
