Finance Board Agrees to Move Forward $3 M for Preserve

After a two-hour public hearing, the Board of Finance voted to recommend that the Board of Selectmen send to the voters a $3 million appropriation to support Town purchase of a fifty percent of the 930-acre Preserve property.

The resolution requires that the Town of Old Saybrook, if the Town voters approve the appropriation, be a fifty percent owner of the land. The State of Connecticut would own the other 50 percent.

More than 150 supporters of the Preserve purchase filled the Old Saybrook Middle School Auditorium tonight for the Public Hearing and to hear the Board of Finance decision.
