Preston — First Selectman Robert Congdon was elected Tuesday as the treasurer of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities for 2014-15, the only southeastern Connecticut representative elected as an officer.
Congdon, who last year served as secretary of the conference, has been on the board for several years.
He was re-elected in November to his 10th term as first selectman. He has served on several regional and statewide agencies that represent municipalities, including the Council of Small Towns, the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency — the insurance arm of conference — and the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments.
Congdon also is co-chairman of the Southeast Water Utilities Coordinating Committee.
Conference board members elected Matthew B. Galligan, town manager of South Windsor, as board president; Danbury Mayor and Republican gubernatorial candidate Mark D. Boughton as first vice president; and Susan S. Bransfield, first selectwoman of Portland, as second vice president.
