New Haven (AP) — Connecticut's largest labor organization is endorsing Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy for a second term in office.

Delegates to the Connecticut AFL-CIO's biennial political convention on Tuesday voted to back Malloy and all the incumbent Democratic constitutional officers. The list includes Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, Attorney General George Jepsen, Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, Treasurer Denise Nappier and Comptroller Kevin Lembo.

Malloy and his chief Republican rival, Greenwich businessman Tom Foley, addressed the delegates on Monday. Even though Malloy had sparred with state employee unions when trying to reach a labor concessions deal in 2011, he got a much warmer reception than Foley, receiving several standing ovations.

Lori Pelletier, executive secretary treasurer of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, credited Malloy with supporting a higher minimum wage and collective bargaining rights.
