Stonington - Stonington High School science teacher Lisa Allen has been named the town's Teacher of the Year for the 2014-15 school year.
The school system made the announcement earlier this week during a short ceremony at the high school.
Allen has taught general chemistry and Advanced Placement chemistry at the school for 15 years.
According to the school system, she also serves as a mentor to new teachers, is chairwoman of several academic committees associated with the upcoming high school accreditation process and is facilitating a newly formed group of AP chemistry teachers from around the region.
Two of Allen's duties as Teacher of the Year will be to address all town teachers before the start of school in August and enter the state Teacher of the Year competition.
