    Hahn outdueled by Lincecum

Ex-Fitch great Jesse Hahn pitched seven solid innings, but the San Diego Padres lost to the San Francisco Giants 5-3 on Sunday.

Padres rookie Jesse Hahn pitched another quality game. On a day when two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum continued his recent roll, it wasn't enough.

Eleven days after no-hitting the Padres, Lincecum carried a shutout into the seventh inning Sunday to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 5-3 victory over San Diego.

Hahn (4-2), the ex-Fitch High School great, faced some early troubles in falling behind 3-0 after three innings, but he toughened and retired 11 consecutive batters at one point.

The right-hander allowed three runs on five hits in seven innings, equaling his career high in six big league starts. He struck out five and walked two.

"In the early innings, they were sitting on my curveball, so I had to make some adjustments," Hahn said.

After Hahn allowed Michael Morse's RBI single to give the Giants a 3-0 lead, he set down 11 straight batters until a one-out walk to Brandon Crawford in the seventh.

"The second half of his outing was outstanding," Padres manager Bud Black said. "I was really impressed with how Jesse hung in there."

Hahn was riding a four-start winning streak in which the 24-year-old allowed just two earned runs in 24 innings (0.75 ERA) with 31 strikeouts and eight walks.

"I know the film is out there on me now," he said. "They can see I have a good curveball. Some of the swings they took on me, you could tell they were sitting on it. I need to use the changeup and slider more to keep them off that curveball."
