Connecticut heating oil prices take a dip

Editor's Note: The post and interactive graphic has been updated to reflect the most current data available from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

Winter officially starts with the Winter Solstice on December 21. Lucky for Connecticut, the average cost of a gallon of heating oil has taken a dip - a drop of almost $1 in New London County since September of this year.

We collected data going back to 2006 that shows regional average price of heating oil by county. In March of 2006, the average price in New London County was $2.46 per gallon and most recently, it was $2.97 per gallon. During that period, the lowest average price was in 2009 before it started to climb again to the current average price.
