    Colonels pick up a win at Wickham

    East Hartford - Bryce Hedman was 10th in 17 minutes, 7 seconds, lifting the Ledyard High School boys' cross country team to a victory in the boys' seeded race Saturday at the Wickham Park Invitational. Ledyard finished with 167 points, topping Nashua (N.H.) North with 183.

    Aaron Norcia was 17th on the 3.1-mile course (17:39), Christian Kuss 24th (17:48), Jacob Money 46th (18:08) and Josh Snow 79th (18:46) for Ledyard.

    Also in that race, Old Lyme's Ross Golebiewski was 11th in 17:14 and East Lyme's Vann Moffett 20th in 17:43.

    Norwich Free Academy's Connor Gralton was seventh in the boys' championship race in 16:36, the top time of the day among local boys. Gralton, who will defend his Eastern Connecticut Conference championship Thursday at Norwich Golf Course, led the Wildcats to an eighth-place finish in the championship race with 164 points. Staples won with 66 points.

    St. Bernard's Ellen Arvidson ran the top time for local girls, finishing 20th in the seeded race in 21:08. Old Lyme's Emma Pennie was 23rd in 21:17 and Fitch's Alana Olendorf 28th in 21:24.

    East Lyme's Kirsten Thompson was eighth in the girls' unseeded race in 21:10, followed by Waterford's Jeannette Mooney in 11th (21:17), Ledyard's Megan Brawner in 12th (21:25) and Wheeler's Kelsey Melinosky in 27th (22:30). Ledyard was sixth as a team with 250 points.

    Coe-Brown Northwood (N.H.) Academy won the girls' championship race with 33 points.
