As a long time Niantic resident, I have seen many first selectman administer the town's affairs, some good, others not so much. Outstanding among the good leaders is the current East Lyme first selectman, Paul Formica. Especially impressive are Paul's problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically. A shining example of these characteristics is his solution to long-standing water shortages that plagued our community for years during the summer months. Rather than continuing years of stop-gap measures, Paul negotiated a water sharing agreement with New London that finally solved the problem.

Our legislature in Hartford needs this kind of approach to governing. I urge all the voters in the 20th Senatorial District to join me in electing Paul Formica as our state senator.
