Joe Courtney has been a great congressman for Eastern Connecticut. In our region, we are lucky to see one of the strongest examples of his efforts in the thriving work being done at Electric Boat. Congressman Courtney, as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, has acted in the interests of national security in general and eastern Connecticut in particular. From working to ramp up and sustain the two Virginia-class submarines per year build rate to ensuring steady work designing the Ohio-class replacement submarine, Courtney has proven since day one that he understands the "Submarine Capital of the World."

While his opponents would like to rewrite history, the fact is that the gains in recent years are directly connected to Courtney's tireless work. Courtney's work in Congress is about so much more than just submarines - but I for one am proud that he's done so much to ensure the vitality of one of our region's most important employers.
