Price Fund underwrites Goodspeed musical

In honor of Michael Price, who is retiring after 46 years leading Goodspeed Musicals as its executive director, Goodspeed is naming the Opera House's iconic grand staircase after him. Jef Wolter, president of Goodspeed's Board of Trustees, made the announcement at a November event honoring Price. At the same time, Goodspeed General Counsel and Price friend Alvin Deutsch said that the Michael P. Price Endowment Fund has raised $1.5 million dollars and that first show underwritten by the fund will be the 2015 Goodspeed Opera House production of "La Cage aux Folles." Price is being succeeded as Goodspeed's executive director by Michael Gennaro, who had been executive director of Trinity Repertory Company in Providence since 2007.
