    Pre-game preview: South Florida

UConn is one of four American Athletic Conference teams still without a conference win heading into tonight’s game against South Florida at the Sun Dome.

The Huskies need to piling up some wins.

“We really need this one really bad,” Rodney Purvis said. “Two good wins on the road and going back for the Cincinnati game with a whole lot of momentum and we’ll be really confident.”

-- UConn won three of last four overall while USF haslost seven of its last nine.

-- Series: UConn leads 12-2, sweeping last season, 83-40 in Hartford and 61-56 in Tampa.

-- South Florida point guard Anthony Collins didn’t play in either loss to UConn last season. He missed all but eight games with a knee injury. He’s healthy now.

Collins leads the AAC in assists.

Boatright played against Collins two seasons ago.

“He’s a great floor general…,” Boatright said. “He’s the engine to their team. As long as we can stop him from going off and controlling the whole game, we’ll be in good shape.”

-- Top reserve: 6-6 freshman forward Bo Zeigler (5.9 pts, 4.5 rebs).

-- First-year coach Orlando Antigua has nine newcomers, only three players from last year’s roster. During his Pittsburgh days from 1991-95, he played against Kevin Ollie.

-- The Bulls rank last in AAC in points allowed (70.3), 3-point field goal percentage (26.9) and free throw percentage (64.1).

-- Perry is an All-AAC rookie team pick last season.

-- Boatright is first in AAC in scoring while Allen Jr. is third.

-- Hot: Junior Omar Calhoun is 8-for-13 from field in last two games. Cold: UConn held last three foes to a combined 34.8 shooting from the field.

-- The Huskies are 6-0 when sinking at least six 3-pointers.
