Groton Town Council accepts report on road resurfacing projects

Groton - In November 2012, voters approved an $11.2 million bond referendum to pave roads in the town, Groton Long Point and Groton City.

The public works departments were required to report yearly what they’d accomplished, and what they’d do next.

Those reports show that in Groton town, crews paved Drozdyk Drive, Brook Street (east) a portion of Bel-Aire Drive and Ridgewood Drive last year. The rest of Bel-Aire and Ridgewood is expected to be done this year. The town also plans to resurface Smith Lane, Westview Avenue, Harbor Court, MacDonald Court, Prospect Hill Road, Williams Street, Ridgewood Drive and Buddington Road from Route 184 south to Interstate-95 in 2015.

In Groton Long Point, workers paved Atlantic Avenue in 2013 and 2014, and Bridge Street. They plan to resurface part of West Shore Avenue this spring, then finish West Shore and start paving East Shore Avenue in 2016.

In Groton City, bond money paid for resurfacing at Groton Estates in 2013. It also covered paving and curbing on Morse Avenue, Kamaha Street and Thomas Road last year.

This year, crews will pave Blueberry Hill, Twin Hills, Old Farm Road, Morgan Court, Meridian Street, Shennecossett Road, Poquonnock Road from Mitchell to Smith streets and John Street.
