Police: Norwich man charged with assault for spitting in faces of officers

Norwich – A man spat in the faces of two police officers Friday morning while being arrested, adding two counts of assault on a police officer to his charges, according to Sgt. Steve Lamantini.

Norwich police responded about 10:30 a.m. to a complaint from a resident on the lower end of Town Street who said Terry Colonna, 53, had broken a glass door at the residence, Lamantini said.

While he was being arrested, Colonna spat once, hitting the faces of officers Harrison Formiglio and Cornelius Carmody, according to police.

Colonna, of 22 Clairmont Ave., Norwich, has been charged with breach of peace, second-degree threatening, third-degree criminal mischief and two counts of assault on a public safety officer.

Colonna is due in Norwich Superior Court Monday.
