    Pre-game preview: South Florida

    UConn enters today's game sitting in fifth place in the American Athletic Conference.

    Tulsa (7-0) and SMU (7-1) are pulling away from the pack.

    The Huskies have a shot at catching third place Cincinnati (4-2) and Memphis (5-3).

    First up, South Florida.

    UConn goes for the regular season series sweep today at the XL Center.

    The Bulls will be without their best player. Forward Chris Perry, who averages 10.8 points and a team-best 7.1 rebounds, is sidelined after suffering chest pains last night.

    Noteworthy:

    -- The Bulls are on a four-game losing streak. They reside in 10

    -- UConn leads series 13-2, winning 58-44 in Tampa on Jan. 6. In first meeting, the Huskies trailed by seven in first half before rallying for the win. Brimah had 13 points, eight rebounds and six blocks. The Bulls shot 38 percent and scored a season low.

    -- Top reserve: 6-6 forward Bo Zeigler (5.9 pts, 4.4 rebs).

    --  Trends: Allen has scored in double figures in six of seven wins for South Florida. UConn is 5-1 when Purvis hits double digits.

    -- Hot: UConn is 21-for-40 (52.5 percent) from 3-point range in the last two games.

       "We don’t want to fall in love with the three point line," coach Kevin Ollie said after beating Central Florida Thursday. "It was good they were going in, but we want to start getting penetration and getting high percentage basketball shots."

    Cold: The Huskies are shooting 47.3 percent (17-for-36) from foul line in last three games.

    -- The Bulls are one of four AAC teams winless in conference road games.

    -- Boatright ranks first in the AAC in scoring. Collins is first in assists.

    -- Ollie wants the Huskies to continue to be aggressive on defense: "We’re going to keep playing hard. We’re going to keep being up in the frame. We’re going to gamble a little bit more on defense and challenge opponents to make more plays."
