UPDATED: Synthetic Cinema now casting for next film
Synthetic Cinema International — which shot much of its films “Wishin’ and Hopin’” and “Steve Niles’ Remains” in and around Norwich — plans to shoot at least one new film in eastern and central Connecticut this year.
Synethetic co-owner and producer Andrew Gernhard said the company isn’t saying much yet about the titles or plots of its new movies, although a “Tell Tale Heart” adaptation is among the projects.
The Rocky Hill-based Synthetic is planning on an April shoot in the Norwich-New London area and is holding auditions from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 7 at the Garde Arts Center in New London. The company is casting supporting speaking roles, featured non-speaking roles and extras. It’s looking for people ages 18 to 30 with a “college student look.” Most of the parts are “high society university students.” Those auditioning are encouraged to dress “as if going to a classy nightclub or as a preppy college student.”
It’s an open call for union and non-union performers. People interested in speaking roles should prepare a brief monologue.
