    Local roundup: Ledyard boys complete another perfect ECC Large season

    Ledyard - DeAnte Bruton had a triple-double - 27 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds - as Ledyard High School completed its second straight perfect season in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division with a 104-74 boys' basketball victory over Fitch on Monday night.

    Bruton also threw in six steals for good measure as the 10th-ranked Colonels (16-3, 10-0) scored 68 points in the first half and were never seriously threatened.

    Mario Graham scored a team-high 28 points for Ledyard while Phyllip Thomas added 16 and Leo Clinton 11.

    John Floyd scored a game-high 37 points for the Falcons (12-7, 6-4) while adding 18 rebounds, five assists and five steals, Pieter Khoury had 12 points and 20 rebounds and Beau Fasida added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

    In other games:

    • Jacob Raggon scored 26 points as Wheeler outlasted Putnam 74-65 in a nonleague game. Alex Haines added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Lions (9-10), who can complete a .500 regular season with a win at Grasso Tech on Wednesday night, while Mike Dellaporta finished with 14 points and T.J. Condon had six assists.

    • Buddy Dewaine and Pat Podeszwa scored 18 points each as Montville closed out its season with a 67-45 win over Norwich Tech in a nonleague game. T.T. Bowens had 10 points for Montville (5-15) and Alex Casillas led Norwich Tech (11-9) with 12 points.

    • Old Lyme broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter to defeat Portland 60-45 in the Shoreline Conference. The Wildcats (15-4) led 40-36 after three before outscoring the Highlanders 20-9 over the final eight minutes. Drake Gavin scored 15 points for Old Lyme and Hunter Sheffield added nine.

    • Paul Pepas made four 3-pointers en route to a 27-point performance that lifted St. Bernard to a 68-52 victory over Killingly. Remy Bonser added 17 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Saints, who finish the regular season 14-6.

    H.S. hockey

    • Logan Morin scored a pair of goals as NFA/St. Bernard/Bacon/Stonington/Lyman beat the Eastern CT Eagles, 4-1. Bryan Guetens and Hunter Poulin scored goals and Ben Amor (20) and Anthony Zeng combined for 26 saves for NFA/St. Bernard (9-8). Maren Lancaster had two assists and Mitchell McCullough, Andrew Gagnon and Jack Hall had one assist each for NFA/St. Bernard. Kevin Close had an unassisted goal and Tyler Luke made 35 saves for the Eagles (45-13).

    College baseball

    • Former Fitch standout Aaron Hill scored three runs as UConn beat Siena 14-1 at Port St. Lucie, Fla.Vinny Siena, who tripled twice, and Joe DeRoche-Duffin drove in five runs each for the Huskies (2-4) while Hill went 2-for-3. Jordan Tabakman (1-0) earned the win, allowing one run over six innings andJack Sundberg drove in three runs for UConn.

    Men's basketball

    • New Hampton beat St. Thomas More, 71-53. Ryan Peterson had 11 points and five rebounds and Sean Hoehn scored 10 with five assists for St. Thomas More (22-7).

    Road racing

    • The 23rd annual Colchester Half Marathon is Sunday at Bacon Academy. Race-day registration ($20) runs from 8:15-9:45 a.m. and the race starts at 10. Advanced registration is $14 and available at https://www.mysportsfee.com/colchesterhalf2015.html.
