Norwich top dog license contest ends Friday

Norwich — One week remains for city dog owners to enter the city clerk’s office’s annual contest to determine which city dog will wear the No. 1 license tag for the coming year.

Dog license applications must be submitted by noon Friday to be eligible for the contest to determine which dog will wear the No. 1 dog tag. The winner also will receive a gift basket of donated dog treats and grooming items and reimbursement for the license fee.

To enter, submit the application along with the state-mandated registration fee — $8 for a spayed or neutered dog, $19 for an unspayed or a non-neutered dog — and proof of rabies vaccination certificate.

The contest is the clerk’s office effort to raise awareness that all dog owners must either obtain licenses or renew current licenses for dogs no later than June 30 for the fiscal year beginning July 1.

For more information, contact the Norwich city clerk’s office at (860) 823-3733.
