    Sun beat Fever 76-68 in WNBA preseason opener

    Louisville, Ky. — A pair of ex-Duke stars provided a lift as the Connecticut Sun opened their WNBA preseason with a 76-68 victory over the Indiana Fever on Saturday night.

    Guard Chelsea Gray, who missed the 2014 season after injury her knee during her senior season at Duke, scored 13 points while rookie Elizabeth Williams — Connecticut's top draft pick last month — added 10 points and five rebounds in her professional debut. Gray was a first round draft pick of the Sun in 2014.

    Alyssa Thomas added nine points, seven rebounds and seven assists for Connecticut, which outscored the Fever 20-11 in the fourth quarter.

    Indiana trailed 67-65 with 5:48 remaining before the Sun closed with a 9-3 run. Williams extended the Sun's lead to 72-65 with with a layup with 1:13 remaining and a putback following a missed free throw extended the lead to 10 just 24 seconds later.

    Shenise Johnson led Indiana with 13 points.
