The Tri-City ValleyCats broke a 6-6 tie with a run in the bottom of the ninth inning, beating the Connecticut Tigers 7-6 in a New York-Penn League game on Monday night.

Aaron Mizell led off the bottom of the ninth with a double and, one out later, scored on a single by Brooks Marlow.

Josh Lester singled, doubled and drove in three runs and Joey Havrilak had two singles and a triple for the Tigers (28-30). Cam Gibson had two hits, Patrick Mackenzie scored twice and Will Allen and Jacob Kapstein had doubled for Connecticut.
